For Y9: Mr Curr's help with the Reading Paper of the SAT

 

The Reading Paper takes this format from 2003:


  • a booklet in the SAT will include 3 different types of text
  • questions will relate in particular to your ability to

    -identify and comment on the structure and organisation of texts, including grammatical and presentational features at text level

    -explain and comment on writers' use of language, including grammatical and literary features at word and sentence level

    -identify and comment on writers' purposes and viewpoints and the overall effect of the text to the reader.

    You will answer four main types of question:

    -completion of table and tick box

    -finding/explaining details in the text

    -writing short answers in your own words

    -writing long answers in your own words.

  • questions will cover word, sentence and whole text level.
