Noir advertisement

The use of a large eyecatching picture tells us that this is a
display advertisement. It will therefore be trying to persuade us
to buy a product or remember a brand name.
Sex appeal.
The attractive couple are embracing. Suggestively, the man
appears to have removed his shirt. The two are linked by one cup
of coffee, which they are both holding. We presume that they are
romantically sharing one drink of Carte Noir.
Snob appeal
The background is expensive, sensuous silk.
The name and slogan are in French- often used for items like
food and make-up, suggesting wealth and luxury.
The slogan means 'a coffee named desire' - desire for the coffee
and for an attractive partner like the couple in the
advertisement.
The packaging: black, sleek, attractive. We note that the GOLD
line on the bottle links to the GOLD line on the cup - which
looks like expensive bone china.
Buy this product and you will share in the lifestyle of the rich
and glamourous (even if you drink it from a mug!)
Note that your cw must comprise advertisements of your own choice which illustrate
more than one 'appeal'.
