The School Reunion
Imagine that it is ten years from now. You receive an e-mail inviting you to a reunion evening at Bournemouth School. All of your yeargroup have been invited.
Para 1: describe your feelings as you read the e-mail; do you really want to go? Who do you want to see? Who not?
2 You go. Describe your hopes and fears as you drive into the school. You go through the gates. Have the buildings changed? What do the cars in the park tell you about their owners? Who do you guess owns the big flashy one? Why?
3 Describe walking into the hall. Can you recognise the staff? How have they changed? Do they recognise you?
4 You meet the first old friend. Tell me what their hopes and ambitions were ten years ago. For example, were they ever going to get married and have children?
Now tell me what they are like now. What do they say to you? Do you feel small compared to them and their success? Write at least one paragraph on each of the four friends you meet, telling me all about them and how they have changed. Do the rich ones dress and speak differently? Do they speak down to you? How do you handle it?
Last para: your thoughts at the end of the evening...what were the biggest surprises? What made you feel good/bad? Would you go to another reunion in ten years’ time?
